Singapore, 6 May 2019 – Goldbell Group is driving its future-readiness forward with the opening of the Goldbell Tuas Service Centre, the largest integrated multi-story heavy vehicle aftersales centre in Singapore. Incorporating the latest automation technology to raise productivity by 33 percent without any workforce increase, a key highlight of the new S$35 million facility is a dynamic living lab, which will be used to develop new future mobility concepts and innovations.
Dedicated to helping customers minimise their vehicle operational downtime, the centre delivers a service turnaround time of only three hours – close to half the time it used to take to complete routine maintenance services. It also offers a full range of repair works under one roof, an added time-saving convenience that eliminates the previous need of having to go to different locations for spray painting, body and components repair etc.
The Goldbell Tuas Service Centre will house Goldbell’s dynamic living lab where new concepts, technologies and business ideas that drive the future of mobility will be tested and developed. This will be done collaboratively with partners such as technology start-ups and corporate innovation arms that wish to tap on Goldbell’s domain expertise and its existing operations to eventually spin-off new business units or form new joint ventures to reshape the mobility landscape in the region.
As Goldbell gears up towards expanding its fleet to include next-generation electric commercial vehicles, plans in the pipeline are to equip the centre with electric charging to support its fleet electrification efforts.
Mr Arthur Chua, CEO of Goldbell Group, said, “Delivering the highest quality service and aftersales support has always been at the heart of our Goldbell Care promise and this new centre has been designed with the future needs of our customers in mind. The technology here will immediately allow us to provide faster, more seamless service by reducing motion waste throughout the entire service delivery process, and our dynamic living lab will be integral to our research and development of mobility technologies for the future.”
An integrated hub for sales, service and spare parts, the seven-storey 400,000 sqft facility is the first multi-storey service centre in Singapore to be able to carry out heavy vehicle servicing on all the higher floors, an operation which is generally done only on the ground levels.
Complementing the additional service bays is its fully automated parts retrieval system featuring six new Autonomous Parts Transporters that will halve the time it typically takes for spare parts to be sent to the shop floor. Processes that usually take 30 to 45 minutes can now be done in 15 to 30 minutes per consignment. It also has a new Parts Barcode System and Parts Carousel System to optimise building height utilisation, improve efficiency in parts withdrawal and inventory accuracy.
Mr Satvinder Singh, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Singapore, said “As the leader in the domestic vehicle leasing market, home-grown Goldbell Group continues to invest significantly in Singapore to improve its service offerings, increase customer satisfaction, and branch into new complementary business areas. Enterprise Singapore is focused on helping Singapore companies, like Goldbell, to deepen their capabilities and raise productivity through innovation. We are happy to be part of Goldbell’s business transformation journey through supporting the development of the new facility, which demonstrates the company’s commitment to embrace innovation, overcome manpower challenges, and seize opportunities arising from new mobility trends such as electric vehicles. This initiative paves the way for business innovation in the industry, and can serve as a benchmark for other SMEs to emulate.”
“We are fortunate to have the strong support of Enterprise Singapore and Daimler FUSO, our partners in the development and configuration of this state-of-the-art facility, who have been very generous with their time and effort in sharing their expertise in Aftersales facility set-up. This centre marks an important milestone in our transformation towards becoming even more future-ready and we look forward to continuing this close working relationship with them in the development of next-generation commercial vehicles,” added Mr Chua.
Mr Michael Kamper, Senior Vice President, Head of Sales, Marketing and Customer Services Daimler Trucks Asia, said, “One aspect really sticks out when I think of Goldbell, which is the comprehensive way of tackling every discipline of our customer-facing business. As a family-owned business Goldbell is now managed by the second generation of owners, always taking the long-term view.
With this flagship retail location combined with the new HQ, Goldbell is making a statement in the commercial vehicle industry, thereby covering the full 360 degrees of Truck customer requirements in Singapore.”
The new Goldbell Tuas Service Centre is located at 8 Tuas Ave 18 Singapore 638892.
